Lamanai Adventure
Upclose Belize is one of those businesses that you're grateful you stumbled upon. With so many options to choose from, it's hard to know which to go with... we're SO GLAD we opted for Upclose Belize! A little more detail: we scheduled VERY last minute. Amazingly, Upclose Belize got us our flights from San Pedro arranged and it was seamless- got to airstrip for our 7am flight (highly recommend - the ... more views are spectacular), Elvin was there to pick us up and offered us a stop for coffee or breakfast. He's kind, smart and took our experience very seriously - answering all of our questions and giving us a fantastic preview of what to expect from the day. Little did we know, we would have so much more excitement than we expected. The van was comfortable, with AC and we appreciated that because we chose a very hot and humid day. We arrived at the boat launch with time to use the restrooms and go hop aboard with another small group from France. Our captain was clearly an expert on the New River and the ride was thrilling. We stopped to include another group from Italy and the Mayan guide and we were off to Lamanai. Along the way, we saw iguana, many native birds, and heard all about the flora and fauna with a real focus on indigenous culture, traditions and beliefs. But, nothing could prepare us for the magnificence of Lamanai. Upon disembarking from the boat, we made our way up to the small museum and the start of our tour. Overhead, the trees rustled, and a soon as we looked up... howler monkeys were busy overhead... amazing photos and footage of them before we headed into the site. Lamanai is stunningly beautiful, lush and green and the walk was filled with moments where you could imagine civilizations traveling the same places thousands of years before. There was gravity, a real sense of awe and a beauty you can appreciate about how the site has been preserved and protected. But, nothing prepared me for what we saw. It's simply magnificent. Both my husband and son are well over 6' and they were tiny compared to the marvelous architecture we experienced. It's breathtakingly beautiful. I expected to see a single structure. But, Lamanai had many more surprises - each you could climb to the top or admire from below. Bring a water bottle... you'll be thirsty, but they come prepared with water for all. The tour guides, the captain and the women who prepared our lunch were absolutely fantastic. Top- notch. Their care and concern for people, our experience and sharing their culture cannot be matched. I did mention lunch, right? The traditional lunch was absolutely delicious. Rice and beans. Stewed chicken, fresh salad with delicious herbs and crunch... and perfectly prepared plantains. Absolutely delicious. And, we were hungry. There was time to explore, visit the gift shop, and soak innings all the beauty... before it was back to the boat and the trip back. Our adventure included everything you could imagine...Elvin was kind, genuine and completely focused on our experience right up to checking us in for our flight and a warm hug and hand shake farewell. My entire life, I've wanted to visit a Mayan site... this was the highlight of our trip to Belize. We are lucky we opted for UpClose Belize and even luckier that Elvin was our guide. Do not think twice... go... you'll be glad that you did!!

Simply Amazing
What a great experience! Really unbelievable. Group of 50 - somethings, challenging but very doable. We had such an amazing experience on our ATM cave tour. We loved our friend Gringo who picked us up, then entire drive he was informing us of all of the landmarks etc. The tour was amazing, hands down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Francisco was our guide, he was so lovely and ensured ... more that we all knew exactly what to do, where to step and stand. We felt very safe and comfortable in his competent hands. Very informative and had a genuine love for what he was doing. The food was beyond great.

Most exciting cave I have ever been to!
I booked an ATM Cave Tour for my husband and I. From communications to the actual excursion, everything was executed professionally. Freddy Itza was our driver from Belize City to the drop off location to transfer to another vehicle to go to ATM cave. From there, Basilio was our driver and tour guide. Both genuinely love what they do and you can tell they enjoy it as well. Freddy was a great conversationalist ... more and driver. Basilio was hilarious and informative. I felt like Indiana Jones the entire time. The company does an excellent job listing the required clothing for maximum enjoyment and comfort. Follow their suggestions and you will have the greatest time of your life. I will be back in Belize for sure and will keep this company in mind. Stellar job! 1/2 day snorkeling tour
My husband and girls absolutely loved this tour. I myself was unable to get down into the boat due to having artificial knees and the boat was way to low for me so I had to stay on shore but they loved it. They got tons of amazing photos and they really like the tour guide which is what keeps people coming back so better hang to that guy.

We had such an amazing experience yesterday on our ATM cave tour. Since the very start of booking the communication has been exceptional. We loved our friend who picked us up, then entire drive he was informing us of all of the landmarks etc. The tour was amazing, hands down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Abraham was our guide, he was so lovely. Very informative and had a genuine love ... more for what he was doing. The food was great. All over- just fabulous.
