Description

Step beyond sightseeing and experience Garifuna culture from the inside. At Palmento Grove in Hopkins, Belize, guests are welcomed into a hands-on cultural and culinary journey where history, food, nature, music, and ancestral traditions come together.

Discover the remarkable story of the Garifuna people through engaging storytelling before exploring our herbal garden and learning about traditional plants used for food, wellness, and everyday life.

Then roll up your sleeves and enter the Garifuna kitchen. Learn traditional cooking techniques, work with fresh local ingredients, and discover how staples such as coconut, plantain, cassava, seafood, herbs, and spices have shaped Garifuna cuisine for generations. Prepare, taste, and enjoy authentic dishes while learning the cultural stories behind the food.

The experience comes alive through traditional Garifuna drumming, rhythms, music, and cultural interaction—giving you the opportunity to participate rather than simply observe.
